A.O. Smith provides a warranty for this product against any defects in materials or workmanship as detailed in this document, given that it is installed within the United States or Canada and remains in its original place of installation. In the event of a defect in materials and/or workmanship resulting in a tank leak during the first three years, they will replace the water heater. If a defect arises in materials and/or workmanship within the first year, they will either repair or, at their discretion, replace any part of the water heater covered under this limited warranty, excluding parts subject to normal maintenance. Any replacement part or product will be warranted only for the remaining duration of the original water heater's limited warranty period. If an identical model is no longer available due to changes in law, regulation, or standards, they will replace the product with one of comparable capacity and input. In such cases, the owner may choose to pay the difference between the original model's cost and the new model with additional features or receive a refund of the purchase price portion, prorated according to the unexpired portion of the warranty.

This warranty does not apply to problems arising from improper factors such as gas supply line sizing, gas type, venting, connections, combustion air, voltage, wiring, or fusing. It also excludes issues resulting from a failure to adhere to applicable codes or printed instructions, as well as those caused by abuse, misuse, accidents, fires, floods, or Acts of God. Problems arising from improper installation, sizing, delivery, or maintenance are not covered, nor are claims related to rust, noise, smell, or taste of water. Additionally, this warranty doesn't cover failures resulting from a lack of authorized factory start-up if required, alterations to the water heater, installation of non-outdoor heaters outdoors, damages due to the failure to account for thermal expansion, or heat exchanger failures due to an inadequate or improper water supply. It also excludes heaters that have been relocated from their original location, service trips solely aimed at explaining proper installation, use, or maintenance, or addressing compliance requirements under applicable codes and regulations. Any charges related to accessing your heater, including door or wall removal, equipment rental, and the replacement of parts after the expiration of this warranty, are not covered.
