Keep a digital copy of your Original Sales Receipt from Shopify, Amazon, or AliExpress; the warranty is valid only for the Original Purchaser and is required to confirm that the device was bought through an authorized GL.iNet storefront.
Before returning a unit, you must raise a support ticket via the official portal or email many "bricked" routers or VPN connection issues can be resolved remotely through a factory U-Boot recovery process without needing physical repair.
Hold the "Reset" button for 10 seconds to restore factory settings; this mandatory step helps rule out configuration errors or third-party plugin conflicts that may mimic hardware failure.
Access the web admin panel (usually 192.168.8.1) and export the system logs; attaching these to your support ticket allows GL.iNet engineers to see if the issue is a software bug or a physical defect in the PCB.
If the support team confirms a hardware defect, they will provide a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number and a corresponding return address; do not ship your router until you have received this confirmation email.
Take photos of the device and any visible damage (if the package arrived damaged, take photos before opening); include a copy of your receipt in the package along with the faulty hardware.
Securely package the router and its original accessories; follow the specific instructions provided in your ticket regarding the shipping method and tracking number to ensure your claim is processed within the standard 10-business-day window.
