Step 1:

  • Visit the Blackmagic Design Support Center to register your product; this links your serial number to your account and streamlines the process for technical assistance.

  • Locate your Serial Number (usually on a sticker on the device or the original box) and keep your original sales invoice ready; handwritten bills are often not accepted, so ensure you have a clear, dated digital or printed copy.

  • Confirm that your equipment was purchased from an Authorized Reseller; in many regions, authorized partners handle the first line of warranty logistics for their customers

Step 2:

  • Use the official website's "Contact Us" form to reach your regional support team (USA/Canada, Europe, Asia, etc.); many issues can be solved through firmware updates or settings adjustments suggested by their engineers.

  • Take clear photos of any physical defects or "screen grabs" of software/signal errors. If the unit has physical damage, scratches, or burnt smells, the manufacturer's warranty may be voided.

  • Perform a firmware update using the Blackmagic Camera Setup or ATEM Setup utility to ensure the problem isn't a known software bug that has already been patched.

Step 3:

  • Once a defect is confirmed by a support representative, you will receive instructions on where to send your unit. Note that users are generally responsible for pre-paid shipping, insurance, and duties when sending items to a service center.

  • Pack the unit securely ideally in its original packaging and internal foam—to prevent damage during transit. Ensure the serial number sticker remains visible and intact on the hardware.

  • Follow the specific RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) process provided by your representative; Blackmagic Design will, at its discretion, either repair the defective product or provide a replacement unit.

Blackmagic Warranty Period:

  • 3-year limited manufacturer warranty (extendable to 5 years via registration)
