Register Your Product Online: Visit the official SURFboard Product Registration page immediately after purchase; registering your modem or router links your serial number to your account, ensuring a seamless experience if you need to file a claim later.
Locate the Unique Serial Number: Find the S/N and MAC address on the white sticker at the bottom or back of your device; this alphanumeric code is required to identify your specific hardware version and manufacturing date.
Validate Proof of Purchase: Keep a digital copy of your sales receipt from an authorized retailer (e.g., Amazon, Best Buy, or Target); the warranty is strictly for the Original Retail Purchaser and is necessary to confirm your start date.
Raise a Technical Support Ticket: Before requesting a return, you must raise a support ticket through the SURFboard Help Center; many "connection issues" are actually ISP-related and can be resolved by a technician through remote diagnostic steps.
Perform a Power Cycle & Reset: Use a pin to hold the "Reset" button for 30 seconds while the unit is on; this factory reset often clears firmware hang-ups that mimic hardware failure.
Verify ISP Compatibility: Use the online compatibility tool to ensure your specific modem model is approved for use by your service provider (Xfinity, Cox, Spectrum, etc.), as non-compatible units are not considered "defective" under the hardware warranty.
Obtain RMA Approval: If the technical support team determines your unit is defective, they will provide a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number; no products should be sent to ARRIS without this case number.
Document the LED Status: Note the exact behavior of the front-panel lights (e.g., flashing green vs. solid amber) and provide this information in your ticket to help the engineering team diagnose the internal component failure.
Follow Shipping Instructions: Securely package the device and its original power supply; follow the specific instructions provided in your support ticket regarding where to send the unit for a certified replacement or repair.
Limited Warranty Terms: Most SURFboard products carry a standard 2-year limited warranty, though specific terms can vary by model.
